An announcement that an incident is “resolved” does not explain whether your data was affected, how long exposure lasted or what action is required. Assessing a vendor update requires targeted questions and an internal owner.
Confirm whether you are in scope
Ask which accounts, regions, versions and time window were affected. A general customer category may not be enough.
Separate availability from security
A service may be restored while the data investigation continues. Do not close an internal incident simply because the status page has closed it.
Request an exact timeline
Record the start, detection, containment and notification times. The delay between them indicates the maturity of controls.
Examine required actions
Credentials, tokens, integrations and stored data may need changes. Assign an owner and confirm completion.
Track commitments
Connect every corrective promise to a date and evidence. The final report has value only if the changes are completed.
